- All players are required to help officiate (line judge, down ref, libero tracking and score keeping) at each tournament they attend.
- ALL players are required to stay for the duration of the tournament, this INCLUDES officiating even after they are eliminated for play. Volleyball is a team sport and being part of a team means sharing responsibilities the whole day. Leaving early can result in loss of playing time.
- No electronic devices are permitted while a team is officiating. Failure to comply results in a 10 point penalty and a fine for the club.
- Tournament Lingo
- Pool play: First part of the tournament, All teams will play each team in their pool once to determine seeding for bracket play (play offs).
- Bracket play: The last part of the tournament where teams are vying for tournament champion, usually single elimination.
- Camping: areas where teams can store their belongings, eat their lunches and relax during a tournament. Typically, a hallway or specified area by the tournament.
- Seeding: team standings based on tournament results. For further understanding of seeding system use the OVR website juniors tab-clubs/teams--team seeding.
- Tournament Suggestions
- Bring a blanket for your athlete to "camp"
- Bring lots of water/drinks (tournaments can be 8+ hours)
- Bring a lunch/snacks for you and your athlete (most tournaments will have concession stands but all are not created equal so be prepared)
- Bring cash not all sites accept credit/debit for entry, food or tournament shirts/hoodies etc.
- All tournament sites vary in temperature so be prepared for anything.
- About Tournaments
- The flip score is not meant for spectators but for the officials. There are many apps that you can download to keep your own score on your electronic devices. The official score is the score book not the flip board or scoreboard.
- A typical tournament is either 12 teams (3 courts) or 16 teams (4 courts)
- Each court will have 4 teams on a court
- Each tournament will have a gold, silver, bronze play-off court, sometimes you will see copper. Sometimes you may see 2 gold courts, one silver and one bronze. The variations are tournament specific.
- Touch base with your coach if they haven't already sent out the playing, officiating, "sit" schedule for your athlete's team.
- Matches are best of 3. The first and second games are to 25 with the third game to 15.

Go to the OVR website and click on tournaments in the resource box and scroll down to define criteria and change to girls and change the age to your athletes and hit display. Scroll down by date of tournament and tournament site and all the way to the right click on tournament details for that specific tournament.
